Job Summary:
Provide leadership and work in collaboration with the Board of Directors of the Burt County Economic Development Corporation (BCEDC). This position involves performing administrative, technical and professional duties in the preparation and implementation of economic development plans, programs and services for the county. A successful applicant should demonstrate strong leadership, finance, economic development and public relations skills.
The job requires excellent communication skills, the ability to write clear, concise proposals, exercise good judgement and the ability to learn new techniques. The applicant will be expected to use a variety of computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, QuickBooks. A college degree is preferred but not required.
Starting salary dependent on applicant qualifications. Continuing education in the economic development field will be provided.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Business Development
- Maintain productive working relationships with the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, Nebraska Public Power District and other statewide and regional economic development allies.
- Maintain open and regular communication with major businesses, civic and community leaders and investors.
- With the assistance of the Board, advance the priorities of BCEDC that help achieve our mission.
- Keep improving site readiness on current sites; work to achieve new industrial sites within the county.
- Continue LB 840 assistance in Tekamah and Decatur, and educate all communities on the benefits of LB840.
- Continue to foster and support start-up and entrepreneurial efforts.
Downtown Development
- Continue to coordinate with NE Main Street for ideas of best practices and case studies.
- Assist with using any local, state, or federal programs to benefit downtowns, et. TIF, Façade Improvement, Commercial Renovation Grants.
Tourism Promotion
- Continue administering the County Visitors Promotion committee.
- Work in conjunction with Red Thread on the Burt Co. Tourism Marketing Campaign, including keeping the tourism website current.
- Stay current on funding opportunities to help in funding tourism marketing.
Administration & Finance
- Prepare the annual budget, maintain financial records, and keep the board abreast of current financial status.
- Invoice all public and private investment in a timely fashion.
- Responsible for corporation documents kept on file including meeting minutes and financial statements.
- Coordinate with the County Clerk on the demolition and renovation grants.
